Designed to ensure ease of access to global markets, SPARK investors will enjoy a state-of-the-art, fully automated logistics zone. Complete with a world-class inland and dry intermodal port, on-site bonded area, warehouses and support services such as on-site customs clearance, SPARK logistics has been designed to enable smart, efficient and world-class operations and guarantees investors proximity to supply chains and raw materials.
Easily accessible from King Fahd International Airport, King Abdul-Aziz Seaport and the GCC highway, in the future, SPARK will also be connected to neighboring countries via the future GCC rail. Once fully complete, SPARK logistics will be able to handle ten million metric tons of cargo.
At maturity, the dry port will offer a high level of automation, and have an annual capacity of 8 million metric tonnes of cargo. Similar to other seaport services, the dry port will provide inland inter- modal services (directly connected by road and the future GCC railroad). The dry port will operate as a centre for the shipment of cargo within or outside the Kingdom.
Smoothing customs formalities, the bonded area in the dry port will be a secured area where dutiable goods are stored and undergo manufacturing or service operations without payment of duty. To improve the value proposition for energy tenants, the SPARK bonded area will allow tenants to import equipment for manufacturing or servicing with the intent to re-export them, as well as enabling regional cargo transit and export businesses.
