Dammam, Saudi Arabia — December 8, 2025
King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) announced today the groundbreaking of Smart Mobility’s first manufacturing facility within its integrated industrial ecosystem, marking a major milestone in advancing the localization of electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies in Saudi Arabia. During the ceremony, Smart Mobility—the joint venture between Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) and Saleh Suleiman Alrajhi & Sons—also inaugurated SPARK’s first EV charging station, underscoring the company’s role in establishing the early foundation of a national EV charging network.
The project supports Saudi Arabia’s national localization agenda, driven by the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, by enabling the domestic manufacturing of EV charging hardware and Charging Point Management Systems (CPMS). These capabilities will strengthen industrial resilience, enhance technological sovereignty, and contribute to the growth of a future-ready mobility ecosystem in the Kingdom.
SPARK President & CEO Mishal Al-Zughaibi emphasized that SPARK was designed to be the gateway for advanced energy and industrial technologies in Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the park’s proximity to critical energy infrastructure and major logistics corridors.
“SPARK was built to empower investors to develop world-class industrial capabilities inside the Kingdom,” Al-Zughaibi said. “The groundbreaking of Smart Mobility represents an important step in expanding our ecosystem with technologies that support the Kingdom’s energy transition and digital transformation.”
The decision to establish the facility at SPARK reflects the strategic importance of integrating EV infrastructure with the Kingdom’s broader energy and logistics systems. The inauguration of SPARK’s first EV charging station—installed by Smart Mobility—demonstrates how Saudi-made technologies will enable new mobility solutions across the Kingdom.
Senior representatives from EVIQ and NAVA attended the event, signaling strong institutional alignment behind the development of the Kingdom’s EV ecosystem, regulatory standardization, and long-term planning efforts.
FIT Chairman & CEO Sidney Lu highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation by embedding global manufacturing expertise within the Kingdom and enabling future export capabilities. Smart Mobility also announced that multiple charging products have received SASO certification, with its CPMS platform scheduled for commercial launch in the first half of 2026.
