21 Dec 2022Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia, 21 December 2022: King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), the leading industrial ecosystem with sustainability at its core, announced the winning landmark designs for its ‘Leave Your Mark at SPARK’ University Competition. The selected designs will be built across four key locations at SPARK.
The winning teams submitted innovative designs that reflected SPARK’s core values, and incorporated green technology and environmentally friendly construction materials in their design concepts. The winners were recognized by senior management during an awards ceremony and were awarded with a cash prize and an internship opportunity at SPARK. They will also have their names engraved on the constructed landmarks.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saif Al Qahtani, CEO of SPARK said, “At SPARK, empowering Saudi youth is a key priority. We seek to identify suitable opportunities to equip the youth with the necessary resources to hone their skills and advance their careers. We were impressed by the creativity and knowledge demonstrated by the students who submitted iconic sketches capturing SPARK’s vision of being a world-class energy hub in the Kingdom. Congratulations to all those who participated in the competition and left their mark at SPARK.”
The competition was launched in May 2022 in partnership with universities in the Eastern Province, including Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), King Faisal University (KFU), Alasala University, Jubail University College (JUC), and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU). It aimed to provide a platform for students in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering and Interior Design to learn directly from industry experts, and showcase their talent, knowledge and creativity.
The competition is in line with SPARK’s CSR initiatives, as it aims to positively impact local communities, while fostering collaboration between SPARK and education hubs, enhancing knowledge exchange, and providing a deeper understanding of SPARK as a world-leading industrial ecosystem in the heart of the energy market.
SPARK is a key Vision 2030 initiative bringing socio-economic value to the Kingdom. It leverages its strategic location to tap into strong local and regional demand, acting as a hub for energy-related companies and connecting the world to opportunities in the Saudi energy sector and beyond.
