Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and the enhancement of quality of life, King Salman Energy City (SPARK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification. This partnership aims to cultivate vegetation, mitigate desertification, and expand green areas across various sites within and around the City, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and in support of the Saudi Green Initiative.

The MoU is designed to strengthen the resilience of SPARK’s ecosystems through the implementation of impactful environmental projects. These include the development of the Ghunnan Oasis Wildlife Park, and a carefully planned afforestation strategy across selected locations throughout the City.

Tree-planting efforts are already underway. As part of SPARK’s ongoing support for the Saudi Green Initiative, more than 73,000 trees and shrubs have been planted so far across the City, more than 31,000 trees.

This agreement underscores SPARK’s commitment to forging strong national partnerships that deliver tangible environmental outcomes. It reflects a practical and proactive approach to environmental responsibility, through initiatives that promote a more sustainable work environment, curb sand encroachment, and contribute to preserving natural biodiversity.

The alliance represents a strategic step toward balancing industrial development with environmental preservation. It affirms that collaborative action is key to achieving a sustainable impact that benefits both the environment and the economy.
